Power whitening

Effective teeth whitening done by the dental hygienist.

Power whitening is a safe and efficient solution to stained teeth. Power whitening can be done both with and without laser light. Many people know the method as laser whitening, which is one of the methods of power whitening. Power whitening makes teeth immediately whiter. Teeth may become up to 10 shades whiter.

Power whitening treatment is ideal for whitening naturally yellow dentine and teeth with damaged enamel. The method does not change the natural structure of the tooth.

The service process

Gums and mucous membranes are protected carefully before the whitening. Power whitening is carried out on as extensive an area as possible (total of ten upper and lower teeth). Extending the procedure to the first molars prevents the so-called tunnel effect where the whitened area appears too narrow when smiling.

Power whitening is performed using a bleaching agent developed for this purpose. Safe laser light can also be used in whitening, which speeds up the process of achieving the final result.

The results of the power whitening can be enhanced and maintained with at-home whitening.

Instructions for power whitening patients:

Before power whitening:

If your teeth are sensitive, we recommend using toothpaste for sensitive teeth for two weeks before the dental whitening. Avoid drinking acidic beverages, such as wine and juice, for two days before the whitening.

Tartar and superficial stains are removed. Do not use mouthwash (Listerine, chlorhexidine) for two days before dental whitening. We recommend having something to eat before arriving for your appointment as food or drink other than water is not allowed for two hours after the procedure. We also recommend bringing a bottle of water with you.

Immediately after the power whitening:

Do not eat or drink anything except water for two hours.

48 hours after the power whitening:

Do not smoke or use snuff.
Do not use toothpaste that is coloured or contains sodium bicarbonate.
Do not use lipstick.
Do not eat or drink staining or acidic foods or drinks such as coffee, tea, red wine or other alcoholic products, cola, chocolate, salty liquorice, liquorice, soy sauce, ketchup, beetroot, curry, blueberries, carrots, oranges, grapefruit, soda, etc.

2 weeks after the power whitening:

Do not use colouring, chemical mouth rinses or mouthwash such as chlorhexidine or Listerine.
There may also be differences in the shades of your teeth (e.g. white patches caused by fluorosis). Any shade differences will even out within two weeks of the whitening treatment.

When booking an appointment, please observe the following:

A tooth whitening assessment appointment (free of charge) is required if the customer is new and the dental hygienist is not yet familiar with the customer’s teeth.

Receding gums, implants, laminates or retainers installed on the inner surface of the teeth during orthodontic treatment will not prevent whitening.

Whitening does not have an effect on dental repairs such as fillings, crowns and veneers.

A dental hygienist conducts the whitening on clean and healthy teeth at the clinic. Tartar should be removed and gingivitis treated before the whitening.

Dental whitening is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. We also do not perform dental whitening on patients under the age of 18.

Please note that teeth whitening cannot be paid for with Edenred, Smartum or Epass, because aesthetic treatments are not covered by the welfare benefit according to the tax authorities’ guidelines.
