The dental hygienist attaches the jewel to the surface of the tooth with liquid filling material, paying attention to not damage the enamel of the tooth.  The attachment is completely painless.

Ususally, the tooth jewellery stays in place for years. However, if necessary, the jewel can be easily removed by the dental hygienist. After removal, the tooth is polished and no traces of the removed tooth jewel remain on the tooth.
